CITY CENTER. This establishment is one of the top art museums in the region. A wide variety of items including watercolors, sculptures, paintings, and costumes is on display. Some of the most popular items on display are "The Breton Shepardess" by Gaugin, and several pieces by John Martin, a popular English artist. Special programs consist of lunchtime talks, children's activities, and workshops for budding artists. Gallery tours are offered only on Saturdays.

This gallery, a part of Newcastle University, is connected to the Fine Arts Department. It regularly hosts a number of well known and up-and-coming artists' works. This spacious gallery is home to the Kurt Schwitter's famous work called the "Merzbarn." Other permanent exhibits cover a broad spectrum, ranging from West African Art to British watercolors. Group visits are asked to call in advance. Facilities for the disabled are not available.
