Description:
This breathtaking sculpture is the largest sculpture in Britain. The angel stands 65 feet high and has a wingspan of 177 feet. The statue can be seen from many different points throughout the city. It was created by sculptor Anthony Gormley to begin the Gateshead public art program in 1998.

This bridge, which crosses the Tyne River, was constructed in 1925 and was opened by King George V. This is one of the most recognized landmarks in the city. Upon completion, it was believed to have been copied by the famous bridge in Sydney, Australia, but documentation later proved that this structure actually began construction after its look-alike.
